The concept of a personalized learning path is the Holy Grail of pedagogy. Thanks to AI, it becomes achievable without the need to hire an army of tutors. AI-powered adaptive learning platforms act as a tireless, extremely insightful assistant teacher.

  • Mechanism of action: The student logs in to the platform and starts solving calculus tasks. The algorithm does not evaluate it as zero-one. It analyses the response time, the type of mistakes made and the path to reaching a solution. Does the student stumble at the stage of substitution for the formula, or does he not understand the very concept of the limit of functions? If the AI diagnoses a fundamental lack of knowledge (e.g., errors in transforming algebraic formulas), the system will automatically generate a series of simpler exercises to consolidate that particular skill, while suggesting a video microlecture or interactive visualization. At the same time, a student who is doing excellently does not get bored solving repetitive tasks. They are given more complex problems, requiring out-of-the-box thinking and combining knowledge from different departments – tasks that develop their potential.
  • Benefits for the teacher: The teacher ceases to be just a transmitter of knowledge. They receive a detailed, analytical dashboard where they can see the progress of the whole class and each student individually. The system can flag a group of students who have the same problem (e.g. with Kirchhoff’s laws in physics), which allows the teacher to organize short, targeted workshops for them. It’s a paradigm shift: from teaching “to secondary” to precisely supporting each student exactly where they need it.

From whiteboard to virtual lab: Learning through exploration and simulation

One of the biggest challenges in teaching chemistry, physics or biology is limiting access to expensive or dangerous laboratory equipment. How to show the course of a thermonuclear reaction or allow students to safely experiment with acids? AI opens the door to virtual and augmented labs where the only limit is imagination.

  • Example from Chemistry: Instead of watching a video about titration, students put on VR goggles or open the simulation on a computer. They see a virtual laboratory with full equipment. They can measure reagents on their own, add them drop by drop, and observe the change in color of the solution in real time. If they make the mistake of “adding too much” reagent, nothing will happen. They can reset the experiment and try again, learning from their mistakes without wasting expensive material. AI can further visualize what is happening at the molecular level, showing how ions combine and dissociate.
  • Example from Biology: Students can simulate the operation of a forest ecosystem. They can “remove” predators from it and observe at an accelerated rate how it affects the herbivore population and the state of the vegetation. Such interactive exploration allows you to understand the complex relationships in nature much more deeply than reading a textbook.

AI for teachers: Unexpected applications in building relationships and educational work

The logic and data analysis that are at the heart of AI may seem at odds with empathy and emotional intelligence, which are crucial in the work of an educator. However, it is this apparent paradox that hides great potential. By automating time-consuming administrative and teaching tasks, AI for teachers frees up the most valuable resource – time and mental energy – that can be invested in building relationships. What is more, AI can serve as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for educators looking for innovative methods of working with young people.

Creative and engaging parenting lesson scenarios with the help of AI

An educational hour is often treated as the least important lesson of the week. Thanks to AI, we can change that. Instead of spending long hours searching for materials on current and important topics, we can use AI as a creative partner to create engaging activities. This is how creative educational lessons are created that really resonate with young people.

  • Specific ideas for an educational hour with AI:

    We can ask a language model to generate a scenario for an Oxford debate on the topic: “Does social media connect or divide people more?” AI can prepare arguments for both sides, a list of potential questions from the audience, and a proposal for a time structure.
  • Advanced prompt:

    “You are an experienced pedagogue and psychologist. Create a comprehensive, 45-minute parenting lesson scenario for Grade 2 high school (16-17 years old) on ‘Stress Management and Prevention of Student Burnout’. The scenario should be interactive and include: 1. A short ‘brainstorming’ exercise on the sources of stress. 2. Presentation of 3 simple, scientifically proven relaxation techniques (e.g. box breathing), along with instructions to practice in the classroom. 3. Work in small groups on a case study (create 2-3 anonymous stories of students feeling pressured). 4. Summary with a list of proven, local sources of support (e.g. helpline, school psychologist).” The result is a ready-made, professional material that can be adapted to the specifics of its class.

A team building game generator and a tool for talking about difficult issues

The beginning of the school year, conflicts in the classroom, apathy – these are the daily challenges of an educator. Effective AI in the work of an educator can provide tools to deal with them.

  • AI as a generator of team-building games: Instead of proposing a “spider web” once again, we can ask the AI to create unique games.

    Prompt: “Design an escape room team-building game based on logic puzzles that can be solved with a piece of paper and a pen. The main theme is to be ‘Common Class Mission’. The game should promote communication and division of tasks in groups of 4.”

  • Support in difficult conversations: How to talk to young people about problems without inducing a defensive attitude? AI can help by generating neutral, hypothetical scenarios or open-ended questions that will become a starting point for discussion. We can ask AI to create a dialogue between two fictional teenagers experiencing conflict, and then ask the class to analyze and propose better communication solutions. It’s a safe way to bring up sensitive topics.

Artificial Intelligence in Schools: Challenges, Ethics and Smart Implementation Strategy

Implementing artificial intelligence in schools is a marathon, not a sprint. It is associated with challenges that we must consciously address so that technology serves the good and does not create new problems. Issues such as inequalities in access to technology (digital exclusion), protection of student data privacy (GDPR compliance), the risk of over-reliance on technology or the potential use of AI for plagiarism are real and require systemic solutions and education.

The new role of the teacher becomes the most important – the role of content curator, mentor and guide to the digital world. The teacher must teach how to ask the AI the right questions, how to critically evaluate its answers, verify facts, and use its capabilities ethically. This is the key competence of the future. AI does not take away the teacher’s job; it changes its character to a more creative, strategic and human-centered one.
