ECTS credits and deficit rules at Gdańsk Tech

Each semester at the Gdańsk University of Technology is valued at 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits.

• To be admitted for the next semester, you must earn the required minimum number of credits.

• If you curl up on a difficult exam (e.g. in Mathematical Analysis or Physics), you can take advantage of the so-called point deficit (usually from 6 to 12 ECTS, depending on the faculty).

• The deficit watch means that you move on to the next semester, but you have to repeat the failed course in the next year (which is associated with a fee in accordance with the PG Fee Tariff for 2026/2027).

• GG (Main Building): A historic, monumental building with Fahrenheit’s Courtyard (to the left of the entrance) and Schopenhauer’s Courtyard (to the right). It is divided into Wing A (from the side of Traugutta Street) and Wing B. If you have room GG 120, look for it on the ground floor in Wing A.
• ETI (Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer Science): Two connected buildings – Old ETI (EA) at Narutowicza Street and New ETI (NE) with a characteristic glass façade. It also has a BS (Research) building.
• WM (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering / WIMiO): A complex of buildings on the side of Siedlicka and Traugutta Streets.
• WCh (Faculty of Chemistry): The Old Chemistry Building with characteristic laboratory auditoriums (Chemistry Auditorium) and New Chemistry.
• Bratniak (4 Siedlicka Street): Student Affairs Centre. This is where the Student Affairs Department, the headquarters of the Gdańsk Tech Student Government (SSPG), the Canteen and the Kwadratowa Academic Youth Club are located.

The designation “GG 305” indicates the Main Building of the Gdańsk University of Technology, 3rd floor (number 3 at the beginning of the room number), room number 05. analogously, “NE 112” stands for the New ETI, 1st floor.

Yes, repeating a failed subject within the point deficit is paid. The cost is calculated on the basis of the number of ECTS credits assigned to a given course multiplied by the rate for 1 ECTS determined in the Ordinance of the Rector of Gdańsk Tech for a given academic year.

6. Where can lab reports be printed on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus?

Photocopying and printing points are located, among m.in, in the Bratniak building (ground floor), in the Old ETI and in numerous service points at Do Studzienki Street and Siedlicka Street.
